Changing perceptions - pushing back artistic boundaries
Following on from the successful Summer Residential Course in Fermanagh 2006
Dates for the Share Music NI Summer Residential Fermanagh 2007 will be August 24th - August 31st. Anyone interested is advised to book early as bookings are already coming in.
We have an excellent team of tutors lined up and musicians from the Motion Project will add sounds and movement from Poland, Venezuela, Persia, Mexico and Zimbabwe. We will also be joined by some music students from the University of Ulster one of whom has promised to bring her harp.
This year for the first time Share Music will include a "mood music" visual arts workshop.
An evaluation of the week this year clearly indicated participants want more film & video and theatre workshops and these have also been programmed.
The Share Music NI Summer Residential 2007 promises to be an eclectic fusion of creativity producing a public performance of international excellence.
The Share Music NI Spring Programme in partnership with the University of Ulster comprises 3 full day workshops, to take place on Saturday February 24th / Saturday March 24th/& Saturday April 28th @ The School for Creative Arts ,Foyle Arts Centre, UU Magee Campus, Derry.
The Spring Programme will bring together students, tutors & potential participants in the Summer Residential .the three full day workshops will culminate in a public performance to mark Community Relations Week 2007. Venue tbc.
The Share Music NI pilot music & multi media children's project took place throughout May June July 2006. The results were outstanding The CD produced received air time on BBC Radio and the claymation DVD "Ermintrude the Electrical Elephant" received a standing ovation at her World Premiere during the Foyle Film Festival 2006.
As a result of the pilot project Share Music NI has developed two new partnerships which will enable two children's projects to take place in 2007. The project is currently shortlisted for an Allianz Arts & Business Award.
The Share Music NI Showcase "Changing Perceptions" kicked off the Educational strand of the Foyle Film Festival and played to a full house resulting in numerous requests for an information sessions on our work by interested organisations in the arts/ community & voluntary/ statutory and business sectors. 2007 promises to be a busy year.
